Google Chrome OS expected in 3Q of 2010 - “The Browser is the OS”

As we noted yesterday, Google Apps have dropped “BETA” , now today Google has announced its plan to release Google Chrome OS available for customers as early as 3Q of 2010.Google is stepping up its arsenal against Microsoft Office suite and Windows brand OS.
New OS named after browser Google Chrome will be a light weight, open source platform and is expected to support any web applications built using any of the existing web technologies. Google’s foray underscores the importance of “The Browser is the OS”, in early 1990, Sun coined the phrase “The network is the computer”, then came the ‘.com’ revolution , new business models and eBay’s & Amazon’s.

Although Google blog distinguish the difference between Android – Google’s Mobile OS open source platform intended run on any device and Google Chrome OS, we believe that at some point they all will integrate. Palm has aptly named its new OS built for Palm pre - WebOS.
